Grappling Match Structure

1. Matches are 10 minutes to a draw or to submission for a win. The final match of the tournament will have a time limit designated at the end of all preliminary matches by the promoter of not less than 30 minutes. There are no points or decisions. The only possible outcomes are to win or lose by submission, win or lose by forfeit /disqualification (DQ), or to have draw.

2. All submission holds are legal as long as they are applied with gradual pressure and humanity. You must give your opponent an opportunity to submit.

3. No strikes, biting, eye gouging (includes chin to eye), head butting, small joint manipulation (finger or toe locks), hair pulling, or ear pulling.

4. Slamming is allowed as along as the slammed opponent is not made to primarily impact his head or neck to the mat first a.k.a. "Spiking". Intentionally spiking someone is an immediate DQ.

5. The referee has the discretion to call a match for use of excessive force or loss of intelligent defense, i.e. Intentional fouls, a competitor refuses to release a hold after opponent submits or an opponent refuses to indicate submission to a choke and loses consciousness. The referees will be shown maximum respect at all times.

6. If the competitors near the edge of the mat area, they will be re-started standing or dragged to the center at the discretion of the referee. If someone flees the mat area to avoid submission it will result in a warning and a restart once. A DQ will follow if repeated.

7. Wrestling shoes are allowed. Clothing must be free of dangerous surfaces such as zippers, etc. No lubricants, oils, or lotions of any kind permitted of any part of the body or clothing. Competitors must not have rough stubble, long nails or other hygiene concerns.

8. Un-sportsmanlike conduct will not be tolerated. No Warnings will be given for un-sportsmanlike conduct. A referee or the promoter can disqualify competitors before, during or after a match.


Tournament structure

1. All competitors must be 18 or older.

2. The tournament is single elimination on a loss. A win by submission or forfeit is required to advance. Draws require a continuation fee to re-enter at the last level attained. A continuation fee may only be used once in a tournament.

3. Competitors who advance will continue to next level when the current level is resolved.

4. All competitors must submit a registration fee to compete. Outside sponsors may contribute this fee.

5. All matches must be resolved by submission or forfeit, for a competitor to advance to the next level. All submitted or forfeiting or DQ'd competitors are eliminated. If there is odd number of competitors in a round, the unpaired competitor will compete against the first randomly selected of competitors who have drawn and chosen to continue in the round. If at the resolution of round a competitor was still not paired for a match he will advance and be the first one paired in the next round.

6. In matches that end in draw the competitors will be eliminated or be allowed to compete again at the current level after paying a continuation fee.

7. All competitor pairings will be done by random draw in whole or in part. If more than one representative from the same team would like to guarantee they do not compete against each other, they can be separated from the pool and paired against randomly selected competitors or against another team that wishes the same consideration. Competitors who refuse to compete against each other will be considered to have drawn and be given the opportunity to use a continuation if it is still available.

8. The prize awarded to the winning competitor is the sum of 50% of all the competitors' fees, 50% of continuation fees and 50% of sponsorship moneys/prizes.

9. A tournament may or may not be designated by weight, skill level, age or gender.
